Together with the reveal of its rebranding and its two new prepaid packages at the launch event, speakOUT also announced phone bundling along with another one of its prepaid packs designed specifically for these bundled devices.

At the launch, speakOUT unveiled 3 smartphones and even 2 feature phones that will go with its speakOUT Base SIM pack. The pack itself is only available with the bundled devices and it comes with a RM 2 credit preloaded. Although the speakOUT website currently shows only one phone on its Devices page, it’s probably an older offer that is not valid/available anymore. For the full list, please check out the Promotion page.

The speakOUT Base SIM pack offers similar pay-per-use rates for local calls/SMS and internet as the usual speakOUT Prepaid pack but oddly, the rates for local MMS, as well as calls/SMS/MMS to international numbers are missing from the pack’s web page. For now, we’ll have to think that those rates will be similar. Below are the pay-per-use rates, as well as all the available voice & SMS plans, and mobile internet plans:

As it is with speakOUT’s other packs, internet speeds for Base SIM pack will be throttled to 64 kbps once the quota has been reached, and users will need to purchase any of those Booster Marks to get back to normal speeds.

Taking a look at the device bundles, speakOUT is working with known device manufacturers for smartphone options, as well as with OEM manufacturers for its own speakOUT branded feature phones. All of these devices are offered without a contract and as previously mentioned, come with the SpeakOUT Base SIM pack. There’s also the RM 50 worth of FreeLoad value which will be included for all of the devices on offer, except one (speakOUT flippi1). These FreeLoad values can be exchanged for voice/SMS/data plans once the phone/line has been activated.

Moving on to the bundles themselves, the most expensive of the bunch is the ZTE Blade V6 smartphone at RM 749 (regular price is RM 799). It comes with a 5” IPS display, 1.3 GHz quad-core processor, 2 GB RAM and 16 GB worth of storage. It runs Android 5.0 Lollipop, has 13 MP camera at the back and 5 MP at the front, and is also the only one with 4G LTE connection.

Next down the line is the SK1 Plus from DingDing Mobile. This is priced at RM 299 and appears to be a slightly upgraded model than the original SK1. It comes with a 4.5” IPS display, 1.3 GHz quad-core processor, 1 GB RAM, 16 GB storage, and it runs Android 5.1 Lollipop. There’s also the 5 MP camera at the back and a 2 MP one at the front.

The Infinite G4 by GOMAX sits one rung lower and has been priced at RM 199. At 4”, its display is even smaller than the rest, and as expected at this price point, it comes with 1.2 GHz dual-core processor, 512 MB RAM, 4 GB storage, 2.0 MP camera at the back, and 1.3 MP on the front. This one’s powered by an older Android 4.4.2 KitKat operating system.

Finally for the feature phone bundles, speakOUT has two different models and they each retail for RM 119. The flippi1 is a flip phone with a VGA camera, 2.4” TFT display, and 800 mAh battery. It features FM radio, Bluetooth connection, Torchlight, and supports microSD cards of up to 8 GB in capacity. The speakOUT s16 is the other device and similar to the flippi1, it too has a VGA camera, FM radio, Bluetooth connection, Torchlight, and a microSD slot that supports up to 8 GB. This device however has a bigger and better 2.8” QVGA display, and a larger 1000 mAh battery.

With these options, speakOUT highlighted that it’s the first to offer a phone and pre-paid SIM option to consumers in Malaysia. speakOUT also shared of its plans to now aggressively push these option for the benefit of its customers. At the event, speakOUT also introduced its speakOUT2Care online support portal and its accompanying app, powered by Cherry Prepaid from the Philippines. Subscribers can use this self service portal to register their numbers, edit their profiles, view their usage, as well as to top-up and subscribe to plans.
