Together with the official launch of Yes 4G LTE service, YTL Communications also introduced revamped-plans for its existing WiMAX 4G service which it now calls Yes 4G Broadband. Essentially, these plans are mostly the same as the ones being offered for the LTE services, except that the split between the LTE and Broadband data allocations here lean heavily towards the latter. This means that users can still opt for the Yes 4G LTE plans but would not be making full use of the service if their primary device is a WiMAX modem.

Bundled device option is also available here, just like Yes 4G LTE, but instead one just one plan, all three of the Yes 4G Broadband favouring plans below can be purchased/registered with a free WiMAX modem.

Postpaid 98 Postpaid 128 Postpaid 158
4G Broadband (WiMAX) 24 GB 30 GB 38 GB
4G LTE 8 GB 8 GB 8 GB
Total allocation 32 GB 38 GB 46 GB
On net calls/SMS Free
Off net calls/SMS 9 sen for every min/SMS
Price/month RM 98 RM 128 RM 158

Although the plans come with two data allocations (LTE and WiMAX), only one SIM is necessary for each plan/account as a WiMAX device does not need it: only the Yes User ID and password is needed to setup an account. However, the calls and SMS mentioned in the table above still requires an LTE smartphone.

Data add-on packages are also available for purchase and subscribers will have to opt for 4G Broadband while purchasing. For the same prices, the packs below offer the same amount of data as their LTE counterparts:

For now, those interested with the Broadband plans can choose between the a Huddle XS Mobile Hotspot for on-the-go surfing, or the Zoom 4G Gateway for home use. Just note that the BB 98, BB 128, and BB 158 plans mentioned in the dropdown, in the Yes Shop for the two devices, are actually another name for the Postpaid 98, Postpaid 128, Postpaid 158 plans respectively. At time of purchase, subscribers will also be required to pay the first month’s commitment in advance, and RM 100 for Postpaid Activation Fee. Subscribers can also chose to buy the devices separately at RM 399 each (with GST).

Of the two device options, the Huddle XS would be more appealing to users as it can work as stationary hotspot as well as a mobile one when needed. It offers speeds of up to 20 Mbps, its built-in battery can last up to 6 hours on a single charge, and allows connection from up to 5 devices at a time (4 via Wi-Fi, and one via USB tethering). Plus, it comes in 3 colour options: White, Red, and Green. Since it uses a micro-USB port to charge, users can simply just hook it up to a power bank. A quick check on the internet also revealed that a new Huddle XS can be purchased from as low as RM 250, but it goes without saying that users may lose out when it comes to warranty claims.
