We’re not sure if you guys still remember when TM announced it was acquiring a controlling interest in Packet One Networks. That was 3 months ago and now it looks like TM is getting ready to announce a new product as the result of that acquisition.

The TMgo microsite appeared suddenly but upon close inspection, we found out that it was possibly a leak by the site administrators. The site www.tm.com.my/tmgo was working till early this morning but it looks like TM may have already plugged the leak. Not to worry though as we did manage to capture some important details. It’s a little sketchy at the moment but we’ll share what we’ve found out so far.

TMgo service will initially launch with two different modems: TM LTE USB and 4G LTE Mobile Router (personal MiFi router). The TMgo starter packs are priced at RM98 each and you can choose between the USB or the MiFi modem. The pack will come with its own SIM card and these have been pre-loaded with 2 GB of data. The free data on the starter pack will be valid for 30 days and users will get to enjoy the free Super Bonus Quota of an additional 500 MB/month for 6 months. There’s no mention of a contract or minimum subscription period so we’re not really sure how TM is planning to recoup its investment in the MiFi modems. TM does promise an activation time of 1-hour after sign-up but we’ll just have to wait and see how that works out.

TMgo will also come with a reload plan so it’s essentially pre-paid for now but we can’t ascertain if TM plans to add postpaid plans at launch. Here are the reload details:

The FAQ and User Guide sections on the website were incomplete so that’s all the information we can get for now. We were also not able to get details about the coverage area as the maps didn’t work. The website did list Pendang, Kedah and Melaka Tengah, Melaka as some of the areas covered and so, it would be safe to say that TM is actually planning a wider coverage than the usual, Klang Valley, for the initial launch.

We’ll be bringing more updates as we get them so stay tuned.
