After exactly one year since its international debut, the OnePlus One smartphone is officially here. Maxis, OnePlus One’s exclusive carrier in Malaysia, has started selling the devices online as well as at Maxis outlets nationwide. The Malaysian OnePlus website is also now live and contains information about the device as well as links to Support, Blog, and Forums pages. Maxis is also said to be the first carrier partner and the first offline outlet for OnePlus as the latter had only been an online retailer till now.
Ths OnePlus Ones can be bought as either unlocked/off-contract at a Maxis outlet, or with a MaxisONE Plan for a discounted rate and extras. Here’s the breakdown of the offer:
OnePlus One with MaxisONE Plan |
|
Monthly Commitment Fee | RM128 for first 12 months RM158 after 12 months |
Talk | Limitless to all networks (including fixed) |
Text | Limitless to all networks |
Surf (4G LTE) | 2 GB (plan) +1 GB (Super-size) with 0 sen internet after high-speed quota |
Roam | One flat rate data roaming in 106 countries (RM38/day) |
Contract | 24 months |
Device RRP | RM 1199 |
Device price with plan | RM 859 |
Phone Advance | RM 512 |
Subtotal | RM 1,371 (RM 859 + RM 512) |
GST (at 6%) | RM 82.26 |
Total | RM 1,453.26 |
For those who sign up on contract, Maxis forces an additional 1 GB of data (called Super-size) to the existing plan bringing the monthly commitment up from RM 128 to RM 158; data-hungry users can opt to Super-size the add-on to either 3 GB or 6 GB for RM 186 or RM 244 respectively. Maxis is giving subscribers a discount of RM 30/month for the first 12 months (bringing the total rebate to RM 360), and for those who sign-up before the 28th of this month, an additional 1 GB/month of data will be added to the existing quota for the first six months. Maxis also delivers for free.
The price quoted in the table above is for the 64 GB variant (which comes in Sandstone Black) but its competitive pricing should make the other 16 GB variant unnecessary. As for accessories, Maxis has confirmed that they won’t be as extensive as what’s available in the official OnePlus store. It does hope however that those should be enough to give new users a few options to start with at least. For those who are going directly to any of the Maxis Centres in the Klang Valley, be sure to give the secret password “Never Settle” to the representative to get a free screen protector.
Every OnePlus One unit purchased through Maxis comes with a 1-year limited warranty and a dedicated premium service; that includes after sales service for the first month at all Maxis Centres nationwide and a 1 to 1 device swap until the end of May. In mid-May, OnePlus users will be able to go to any of the walk-in and collection centers in the country for support and warranty claims.
