Completing a one-two punch (or a double whammy, depending on how you look at it), Maxis is once again the exclusive carrier for a OnePlus device here in Malaysia. This time around, the said phone is none other than the brand new OnePlus 2 (the so called ‘2016 Flagship Killer’) which made its debut just about two months ago. Being the exclusive carrier, Maxis will be making the OnePlus 2 available with its Zerolution plan for RM 104 a month, and users can secure an invite now to stand a chance to grab one when it comes out. Only the 64 GB Sandstone Black variant will be made available on the 22nd September (from 10 am onwards), and the device will carry a retail price of RM 1,687. Maxis will start delivering the orders beginning on the 28th, and it will also be the general available date where the device will hit Maxis outlets nationwide and its online store.

Here are the details of the Zerolution plan for the OnePlus 2:

Monthly payment for phone RM 59/month
New phone every year RM 30/month

Looking at the phone itself, the ‘2016 Flagship Killer’ tagline is definitely an overkill but the device does have its merits. OnePlus 2 may not be the first phone to come with USB Type-C connector but it is responsible for taking the step to introduce the new standard to international users. The included cable features a flat, rollable design which makes it tangle-free, and it can be plugged into the phone in either orientation.

For the camera, OnePlus has decided to go with a 13 MP sensor this time around but the actual size of each pixel is said to make it 35-percent larger than other traditional 13 MP sensors. To complete the camera assembly, OnePlus has opted for a 6-element lens (with a f/2.0 aperture) and optical image stabilisation (OIS). But to achieve its focus time of 0.2 seconds, it still needed one more thing and this is where the laser autofocus comes in. The system enables a touch-free and precise focus for the camera to capture that blur-free shot in an instant. The camera is also capable of shooting 4K, time-lapses, and slow-motion videos.

All of the camera action can be enjoyed on OnePlus 2’s 5.5” In-cell IPS display. The display has a 1500:1 contrast ratio for deeper blacks and true-to-life colours. It’s said to outperform other displays in direct sunlight, and while set to dark mode, it can also get really dim for night-time use.

OnePlus 2 also comes with a fingerprint sensor that works in less than half a second and can store up to 5 unique fingerprints, an Alert Slider (a physical sliding switch) on the side that allows for users to quickly switch between 3 different notification profiles (All Notifications, Priority Interruptions, and No Interruptions), and the StyleSwap system for a quick back-cover swap that can be executed in seconds without any tools.
