Now that TIME dotCom (TIME) and Maxis have each shown off their latest fibre broadband packages, it looks like Telekom Malaysia (TM) might have something to add too to that mix. The guys over at Amanz have unearthed a new UniFi Advance PRO package with a 100 Mbps download speeds that may be offered as soon as in the next few days. The plan will be priced at RM 329 with either HyppTV Aneka Pack, HyppTV Varnam Pack, or HyppTV Ruby Pack, as well as for RM 359 with the HyppTV Jumbo Pack.

From the captured image of the plan, it is now clear that the PRO plan will come with 100 Mbps upload and 50 Mbps download speeds. The plan offers free calls worth RM 20 to all local numbers, together with free access to streaming services made up of iflix (for 12 months), Viu (for 3 months), and even its own HyppTV Everywhere (available on 2 devices per account). These are in addition to the usual UniFi goodies that include DECT phone, and 500 MB/day TM WiFi.
Launch date has not been ascertained and according to Amanz, TM has yet to provide an official comment on that matter either. Based on the talks about town, Amanz proffers that the service might see a 1st April launch date (an elaborate April Fools’ day prank perhaps?), but there have been other sources too who have placed the launch date much further than that; with the expected launch to happen sometime within the same month of April but without providing a specific date.
Although it may not be as fast as the 500 mbps one offered by TIME, the prevalence of TM‘s infrastructure has always made it the only choice for some when it comes to home broadband connection. One may even be interested to know that TM has had previously offered a 100 Mbps plan under the BIZ 100 back in 2013 but had shelved it in recent times. Perhaps it’s following the footsteps of some telcos (even satellite TV service providers) by charging more for the same product without adding any real value to what’s being offered. We might just have to wait till TIME starts widening its coverage area before TM starts to buck up, and perhaps starts reviewing its overpriced packages that come with unnecessary bloat-packs.
